Sponge Sister Powers... Activate!

esotericbeccums, I didn't know you were a Sponge! Wow, it's so cool to find out so much about you from your website. I'm Betty, Fall of '96. I was a Dry Sponge, since I'd quit drinking by then, and since I was (I think) the only active Dry Sponge, I was Designated Driver a lot. Once, I fit 18 people in my '84 Cavalier (seating capacity 5), and drove them to the bar. Those were the days... :)

18?
Eighteen people? How...? Nevermind. I don't really think I want to know. I also don't want to know how they got home. :)

Re: 18?
Yeah, me in the driver's seat (1), 1 in the passenger seat (2) with 2 on top of her (4), 5 crammed in the back seat (9) with 2 laying on their laps (11), and 7 sitting in the open trunk (18). We were at someone's appartment just behind Alumni for the induction, and they all wanted to go to the bar (I don't remember the name, but it was the one at the top of the hill where the stoplight is). The total distance was like 6 blocks, but I managed to scrape my muffler which rusted out within a year.

Re: 18?
Didn't Chris Meuleners buy it?

Wierd rumor that traveled up to minnesota. Brett Randall sold it to him, which bums me out. He used to hit on me all the time - very convenient for an underage drinker such as myself.

Re: 18?
There is a bar at that location still, but the name is now Junior's.

I don't know what the owner's name is.

Re: 18?
They could have walked, and mostly they did walk home... mostly. It was so much more fun this way, tho.

OK, the Sponges of the late 90's must have been different than the sponges of the early 90's. Cause I can't see either of you as an early-90's Sponge.
