Ok, so I've actually been really busy and have been writing some of this stuff in a Notepad for later posting. I like the fact that I haven't posted in three days and have a bit in here called "Why I Journal Every Day..." It's all broken up into easy-to chew little pieces.

Broken 11-Ball
So I've started using a hard break when playing pool. It gives me a better spread and chance to run the table out, and I'm getting it so that I usually make a ball also. Last night (8/11), while I was practicing, I noticed that part of the 11-ball was disconnected from what should have been another, contiguous part of the 11-ball. A little more force, and the top fifth of the ball would have come right off. So now we have the backup set until the new ones Patti ordered arrive. PS: Bruce still hasn't come over to recover the table.
PPS: The new ones arrived yesterday (8/13). They are Aramith and they are incredibly awesome and shiny.

Why I Journal Every Day...
Some of you may have noticed that I've been very prolific right out of the starting gate on this journal. I've kept diaries and journals and the like in the past, usually for about 1-2 weeks, and then I just lose interest. Here, I need to make sure it becomes a part of my daily life so that I don't fall off. I've reconnected with old friends and even made some new ones. I want to make sure I don't lose that again thru reticence. Yes, that's right. You are the reason that I journal everyday. Thank you.

Mayo from Dead People?
Last night while getting a soda (see below) out of the fridge, I noticed the back of a jar on the top shelf. The contents looked like a cross between tapioca and mayonnaise. I thought it must be some ethnic thing that Patti'd picked up in Chicago. So I turn it around and read the label...

Greek Style Cadaver Spread.

...or so I thought. It was actually Greek Style Caviar Spread. Whew! I was afraid I was going to have to eat dead people.

New Diet Rite Flavor
I found Black Cherry Diet Rite at the store the other day. I didn't think I was going to like it at first (too marachinoesque), but when you get a 12-pack, you drink all 12, right? Well, it's grown on me. If you don't like diet soda, try this. They use Splenda, not aspartame (which gives a lot of people migraines), so it tastes more like real sugar is in it. Funny thing, the website for Diet Rite is dietrite.com, which I thought said "die trite dot com." :) haha.

Ares and the Moth
Last night (8/11) while watching TV, I caught a moth that was flying around. Looked a little like this one:
MothraAresI got it right on the tip of my finger and showed it to Ares who didn't seem to realize this was prey. His pupils were slits, but when the moth took off, they dilated right out! It was so funny. Guess you had to be there.

I went out the night before last (because Wednesday night was too overcast), hoping to see some of the meteor shower. I was out for about fifteen minutes on the dock and was about ready to give up when about 60° up straight in front of me this bright streak starts across the sky. It goes about 60° across the sky and explodes! My first sighting and it is a fireball! I only got a couple of other brilliant ones, along the same trajectory, but neither compared with that first one. I've never seen shooting stars like that before. I was thrilled, but with all the sounds of Nature, I thought after an hour, I'd head inside to avoid being eaten, bitten, mauled, or gored.

My Friday the Thirteenth Story
No, I wasn't struck by a Perseid while watching the meteor shower after midnight Friday morning.

My one-day project of stuffing envelopes stretched to two, as the other two women and I sorted, folded, stuffed, and sealed 3604 envelopes by 3:30pm yesterday. No, I didn't get any major paper cuts nor any minor ones worth mentioning.

I got home and took a nap, then went down to supper. Patti made lamb chops, Greek salad (no cadaver spread), and rice and vegetables. No, I didn't get explosive diarrhea. She did make a bread pudding which was very good, although the brandy-soaked raisins and currants were too much for me.

I went outside to bring in the cats. No, I didn't find any dead cats nor were any cats missing.

I did find the box with the new pool balls. We had to break them in. They were great. No, they didn't shatter or chip or roll funny.

I went upstairs to watch the Stargates from earlier that night. It was about 11:30pm. The on-screen clock from the TiVo was stuck at 7:45am. "AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH!" I had to hard-reboot it. It didn't record anything on its To Do List all frelling day! I missed the newest Stargate episodes (although I got to see the last twenty minutes of Atlantis). This is the first time my TiVo has frozen like that in about fourteen months, so it is an unusual occurrence. I was so very sad. "Damn you, curse of Friday the 13th!!!!"

Present for flower76
I got you something today while I was in CR. A little token for having me over and being such a great friend and introducing to LJ where I can keep up on old and new friends. :)

*G* Thank you for the 'Mayo from dead people' reference, that was a good giggle-inducing moment.

Blah on the Tivo - hope it behaves from here on out!

Present for me? **perks up** **wrings fingers greedily** :) I'm glad that you are taking to LJ so thoroughly! I, too, think it's a neat communication tool. Even if it is causing brawls on the CnGAlums list (which is a bit of an overstatement, actually).

Splenda scares me. Actually, any artificial sweetener scares me. I am ~20 pounds overweight now, so I should be at least making an effort to reduce my caloric intake (which explains my breakfast of chocolate chip cookies & Sprite), but every time I try something with artificial sweetners, not only can I not stand the taste, my body seems to say, "Oh, is that what you want me to drink? I know I said I was thirsty, but nevermind." More Splenda for you! :)

I think we had a moth like that for a couple of days. It was gigantic. Maybe 4" accross from wing tip to wing tip. It was yellow and brown and had an enormous (for a moth) furry head. I don't think Samson would have evinced any more interest than Ares did. Big game hunter he is not. And I doubt the moth would scratch his ears or feed him, so it would be zero-interest inducing.

Yes, present! :) You should come over and get it, or I can always deliver. Whichever.

The moth I had was only about 1" across the wings, small but pretty.

You should try Splenda. I'm as adamant about its coolness as I am about TiVo.

I'm stuck at work today until I can't take it anymore. Maybe 10?

You can come visit if you want... I can email you directions (not gonna post 'em on lj) if you're bored and want to waste gas money.

You could even briefly kidnap me so we can go to Claire's... they're supposed to be having one of their 10 things for $5 clearance sales! **bats eyelashes**
