LJ Client

Does anyone use the Windows clients that are available for LJ? I'm fine with typing out my HTML, but I was curious if anyone had a recommendation.

I use the straight old Windows client, the original. Semagic is highly recommended by many people; I hated it last time I tried it (which was a couple versions ago now). Be aware that most clients will still leave you typing out HTML, however, they won't have as high a chance of losing it if the page wobbles when you post. As far as I know, the only Windows client with a WYSIWYG editor is Semagic, and it didn't have that last time I tried it, so I really can't say anything meaningful about it.

The big advantage I see in using the Windows client is that I can post, haul up my friends list, recent entries, etc., from one program; and I can work on posts when LJ is down (assuming I managed to log in to the client when it was not, since the Windows client won't load unless it can sign in - Semagic will).

Thanks, but the big advantage seems a lot like what I do with tabbed browsing in Fx. I dunno, maybe I'm just old-fashioned and will end up sticking with no client.

I guess I could just give it a try and dump it if I don't like it. But not tonight. It's almost 3am. Need to sleeeeep.

I use Semagic. It does all the link HTML for me, which is nice. Also images and userlinks. Um... and bold, italic, underline, and strikeout HTML. It will also print out the LJ-cut tags for me, but they're so quick I usually type them out myself.

I love Semagic's spell check (even tho LJ has it's own), the ability to save a draft, it's easy backdate feature (which I guess LJ does too), and it's cool music detection feature. Of course the automatic music detection doesn't work with my usual setup, but it is very cool when it is working.

Thank you! That's the stuff! I think I'll try that out when I have time to mess with it. Maybe Thursday or Friday.
