First, you may know that I got the Rosetta Stone Japanese Language course a couple years ago. I started it, and kind of forgot to go back to it a few months later. I've restarted it in the last couple of months, and while I haven't posted about it, I've gotten beyond the point I was at the last time. Last night at snakewich's, the three of us watched the live action Death Note movies, and there were a lot of words I actually understood, including some of the writing I saw.
I'm resolving learn Japanese by using this for at least an hour a day (except when I'm away from home) until I finish the course. Since I have Levels 1-3, this should last me quite a long time.
Second, a lot of people have told me, especially if they've ever seen me play along at home that I should go on Jeopardy!. I've been watching it again recently, and have decided to actually make this a goal. Not only to go on, but win big. I think I'll take the Ken Jennings approach, since it proved so very successful for him. He studied the subjects that come up a lot on the show. Things like U.S. Presidents, the Oscars, alcoholic drinks, Shakespeare, world history, the Bible, and so on.
I'm resolving to prepare for getting onto and winning Jeopardy! by studying the various subjects that appear on the show most often. I further resolve to take the qualifying test by the end of this year. If I get onto the show and win, I will follow Ken's example by giving 10% of my winnings to charities (however, as a godless heathen, churches won't make the list; sorry, Ken ;) ).
