Full Race Results - Marion Arts Fest 5K

The full results are up. http://www.pigmantri.com/jmsracing/results10/mart10b.html It's weird that they sorted them by gun time, not chip time, but I have my places based on chip time from my printout. Now I know how many were in each division. It was actually mostly women running. I didn't expect that.

Splits: 9:48, 10:26, and 10:06 for last 1.1 miles (9:07 pace!). These add up to 30:20, so they must be based on the gun time. Weird.

According to my Garmin, the 1st and 2nd mile marks were well farther out than they should have been, but the overall distance was right, so it all works out.

Overall: 446 / 757 (41st percentile)
Of females: 200 / 446 (55th percentile)
Of 35-39F: 25 / 54 (53rd percentile)

...and my weight hovers around the 140 minimum for the "Athena" class. I might have been eligible that day. (I am today.) If I'd been in that group:

Of Athenas: 23 / 77 (70th percentile!)

So I really am a mid packer.

Oh, and the woman who broke the female course record was Diane Nukuri-Johnson of Iowa City, 25, and she did it in 16:27 with splits of 5:15, 5:29, and 5:45 for a 5:18/mi pace overall. :O The old record was 15:47, set two years before.

It's weird, because it seemed really easy. I didn't feel like I was pushing myself at all. I think I got in the pack mentality. I usually run alone and seeing all those people running along with me, I kind of got swept up. I didn't think I'd be able to sprint the last little bit, but I did have reserves. It was awesome. Such a good experience!

It's very motivating. Races will knock 30-60s from your mile time. srs.
