Well, the other night, Bambi was on ABC, and I TiVo'd it because I'd never actually seen it. I don't know if you're aware, but in SE IA, the network affiliates have this who-has-the-biggest-dick-type contest going with their weather coverage and how precise their radar is. Whatever. There was a tornado warning covering the entire viewing area and a tornado warning in one county on the west edge of the area with like, 30 people in it (and ten of those are livestock). They interrupted consistently to show the little bits of red on the radar. They did this not during the ample commercial time, but during the actual movie, including the last 5 minutes! So I didn't get to see the ending. I'm going to write a nasty email to KCRG telling them that if I was worried about the weather, I'd watch the fucking Weather Channel or turn on the AM radio. Buddha presumed you were not dumb-asses. I hope that when you die, St. Peter boots you in the head before he reincarnates you as a male black widow spider. Shitheads.
So, last night, Patti gave me some hyssop oil to put on the shallow of my throat, on my chest, and behind my ears. It's an aromatherapy oil to help keep the breathing passages moist, but decongested. I also took a steaming pot of water up to sit on my nightstand (the humidifier is in storage), took an überdecongestant (which I found has an expectorant in it: phenylephrine/guaifenesin 30/600mg), and two tablets of the cold/allergy tabs (which I found out this afternoon is a 1 tablet dose, whoops). Today, I've been taking the overkill approach to treating myself. When I awoke, I sniffed some Nasal-4 spray decongestant, another 2 tablets of the cold/allergy, and the über. At work, I got 2 filled donuts (to build up the phlegm response really well), and then got more of the Q-Tussin (dextromethorphan HBr 2mg & guaifenesin 20mg/mL) from the pharmacy. I was taking a sip of the Q-Tussin every hour or so to keep my levels up, and I also took 600mg of IB this morning. Also if my nasal cavity got dry, I'd use this nasal spray I keep at work for it (that's not medicated). I had a couple of pieces of cake this afternoon to work up the pleghm response. Drank lots of punch. I took the cold/allergy tablet (1 this time) and the über when I got home. My throat feels tons better, I'm not coughing as much, and I'm not coughing up as much. When I do cough, it's productive. My voice isn't cracking, but it's still sultry/husky (think Kathleen Turner), which is miles better than any day the last week. I'm going to make it!
As I have said for such a long time, I want to go out to Colorado and visit some friends. You know who you are. Well, Patti's friend, musician Stevie G, is going to be playing in Colorado for the next 8 weeks, including Castle Rock in about 6 weeks. Strangely enough, I've been considering the time when I'd like to visit Colorado and mid-to-late-August has been sticking in my mind. Patti has fond memories of past visits to Castle Rock. She says, "You want to go on a road trip to Colorado?" :D Do I?! So we may arrange to travel together and split up when there. We're not sure on the dates yet. More to come; stay tuned!!!
Well, that was a lot less painful than I thought it'd be. I was putting it off until I felt better because I thought it'd be a pain in the ass. One thing I can say for SallieMae is that they have a user-friendly, FAQ-filled site. Very nice.
