The Stupid Things That I Do

I had a migraine when I woke up this morning. I didn't feel like getting out of bed. So did I get out of bed and get the medicine I needed? (Stupid thing #1) No, I sat there and read LJ and started on an essay for one of ladypentacles' classes. I sat there for about 2 hours and then I started to get really nauseous. (Stupid thing #2) So I decide to go downstairs. I almost pass out and fall down the stairs. That would have sucked. I managed to sit down on a stair until the spell passed. I got to the kitchen, took 800 mg of ibuprofen, a decongestant, made some extra-strong coffee (for the caffeine), got some ice cream to eat (the sugar and lactose help calm my stomach plus it is cold in my head), and got some frozen baby lima beans as an ice pack. I went up and laid on the couch watching X-Files and Monk for a couple hours. The migraine was almost entirely gone by then, and on its way out. Good news.

Patti needed to take her truck over to the repair guy to get her steering corrected, so I had to go along with my car to bring her home. Well, I was still in my pajamas, so I needed to get dressed. I thought I'd just throw on jeans and a tank top with a dress shirt over. Nothing fancy. (Stupid thing #3) When I was putting the tank over my head, I managed to stick my thumbnail in my forehead and scratch off about a 1½" long, 1/8" wide piece of skin. Yeah, ouch! It was bleeding a little, and though pretty superficial, was bright red. So I took the time to cover up the scratch with a little creative hairdo. It's on the oppostie side of my usual part, so I had to fight the hair and clip it over. If I'd make a more zig-zag scratch, at least I could say I was a misguided Harry Potter fan. At least it didn't bleed a lot, and the liquid bandage works really well on skin you don't flex a lot. BTW, I recommend this product to everyone. It's like a little superglue tube, and it sticks like superglue, but it's made for covering wounds. It's clear, so it's not a coverup, but I suppose I could put makeup on top of it... (Probably would end up being Stupid thing #4...)

So I finished my essay, which was my previous entry, visible to my Friends list. I have to get up at about 3:30am to take Patti to the airport for her 6am flight out of CR direct to DC. DC is having such bad weather they are expecting 18" of snow and already canceled her later flight from O'Hare to Dulles. So Stupid Thing #4 will probably be me not getting to bed early. I know I should go to sleep about now, but I also know me, and that I probably won't get to bed before 11pm.

Magic: the Movie

Well, everyone seems to be getting all nostalgic and digging out their old Magic cards or buying new ones, or trying to figure out what phasing is... I was reading mega_d's post about little cigarettes as a cessation program, and I was looking for a picture of Corbin Dallas (from The Fifth Element) smoking one of those cigarettes with the 80% filter. I didn't find that, but I did find a picture of a Magic card with Corbin on it, so I got curious. I found this site with made-up Magic cards with movie and TV show themes, as well as female celebrities. I thought the Michael Jackson card was hilarious, especially the part about it becoming a white creature! And check out the Simpsons themed "Worst Spell Ever" (at the bottom)!

PS: I still haven't dug out my cards, but I will probably do that shortly and stay up way too late rifling thru them. (See previous post.)
