of sisters and scarves

My little sister turned 30 today. I remember when I turned 30 almost three years ago, and I wondered if I'd be all freaky about it. I wasn't. It didn't really feel like a big deal. Now, though, my baby sister is hitting that mark. I feel old. :( Funny how that works, huh?

So, happy birthday to her! Maybe I'll see you at our baby cousin's wedding. ;_; How much older can I feel?

On another subject, though, I'm getting well into the Tom Baker episodes of Doctor Who. Four will always be "Scarf Doctor" to me. It was he who was the Doctor when I was born, he who was the Doctor on PBS when histrygrrl tried unsuccessfully to get me into the series in high school, and he who was on PBS again when I decided to start watching the classic series. At the DW panel at CVG, it was recommended to start with Tom and work one's way around.

Anyway, I've taught myself knitting, and found a pattern for the original scarf as worn by Four in series 12. I've done the first two color stripes, and will need to find the rest of the colors to continue.

Tom Baker, AKA "The Slob", was the Doctor when I started watching the show. And, as is usually the case, is my favourite one. But I liked Colin Baker, too.

That scarf was awesome!
I wonder if you are going to make it as long as the one he had :)

I just finished with "Seeds of Doom" (about world-devouring space plants), and the next story is "Hand of Fear." See the pattern? ~_^

You turned 30? I didn't know that! I thought you just turned 28. Well, maybe for the past 5 years you've been turning 28, but I didn't know you ever went above 29.

And here I was depressed because I was getting to be so much older than you.

I think you're confused. I turned 29 in 2003, and this Devil's Night, I will be celebrating my 5th annual 29th birthday. My little sister is now older than me, but only because of math. ~_^
