I really am grateful for the Mercy On Call service, but I didn't even know about it until after I'd worked at the hospital for quite a few months. It's staffed by Mercy RNs who volunteer time to answer people's medical questions, help set appointments, locate doctors, narrow down diagnoses based on symptoms and recommend treatment. It's mostly for Mercy Iowa City Patients. Locals might not know about it. Info here.
Anyway, I talked to the doctor, and she agreed that antibiotic eyedrops were the best course of action. I haven't been to Wal-Mart in 4½ months, but I had so much else that I needed, and I didn't feel up to running all over for stuff. Sorry my ethics don't hold up under sick conditions. I went to the pharmacy there to get the Rx , but found that even the Wal-Mart pharmacy has Sunday hours that don't start until 11am. I know what you're thinking: Mandy was up before noon?! Ya. I was even up late last night trying to roll up the Moon in a Katamari, but I got up at 9am to start trying to get the drops. So, I did some shopping for the rest of the stuff. Thank science for Tussin DM. So I still had an hour to kill, so I got my first meal that wasn't ramen or peanut butter since Friday night (and that was the only one since Tuesday). Still ended up waiting for 15 minutes for them to open. The had it all filled and everything when they did, so it was quick.
Among the things I bought at the store was an eye patch. Arr, I'm a Pirate. Maybe I'll glue or sew some beads to it for a more festive look. BTW, I have to say thank the gods that they finally got Tigh an eyepatch! That taped gauze seemed okay on New Caprica where supplies were scarce, but on Galactica, it looked stupid. Maybe they could give him a Martok bolted-to-the-skull thingy. ...or was that someone else? *Goggles* Ok, yeah, someone else... Anyway, it's very comfortable, but my brain keeps trying to see things in the black, mostly anime demons and such, and it overlays my right eye's vision. Weird brain stuff, kinda distracting.
So that's a nice big update to say I'm not terribly up to updating anything of substance. I hate our society's taboo of having anything useful happen at any decent hour of a Sunday, but whatever. Think I'll GIMP up a
