I really, really tried...

I really do care for some of the characters, but I just cannot keep going. I gave it over 11 hours into Book 2. I don't think it's the narrator, although he's not helping matters. Maybe sometime in the future I'll ome back to this series, but not now. I just can't get into it. Maybe it's the genre, or the overload of political intrigue. Oh well, now I have to pick a new book.

Why I even bother posting this crap? *sigh*

On the good side, I got all day tomorrow off, so I can properly prepare for the Halloween party.

Go ahead and give it a rest. Try coming back to it later, and maybe try reading the book in person.

It's a slog, but it's worthwhile in the end...if you can get into it. Of course if you never enjoy it at all it can't be worthwhile.

I seem to recall that I read many of the books at the same time as I was reading something else. So when I felt like something serious I'd read Ice and Fire, and when I wanted something light I'd read Nora Roberts or something like that. (Yes, I read Nora Roberts. Sue me.)
