Had a stroke of genius this morning...

Jeannie...and made this icon. It doesn't really fit me, but anyone out there who has said this and meant it can take it. You know who you are. All of you know who you are.

I found these that were interesting. Mostly the digitigrade costume is not an extenstion, because of the stresses it puts on the ankle when walking upright, but an illusion, like described in some of the links from 16.1.2 of this faq (the first one has lots of pics). I also found PowerSkip after I'd drawn my design, which I haven't had time to scan or make nice. Mine is kind of similar, but the brace for the loser leg would run down the sides of the leg and past the foot, curving down to form the fake heel, and the base position for the foot is probably about 45° down. There'd be stop-catches to keep the foot from bending up and down beyond a certain point, and a bar from the end of the footrest to the middle of the artificial foot which will magnify the angle of the real foot into the fake one. I don't think that the force of the foot would be magnified, so some sort of spring or bungee mechanism will help hold the foot down and lessen the stress on the calf.

Thank you for sending me those links! I like how they use the foam to create the right contours around the leg, pretty neat!
It sounds like your design is really coming along! I think the connecting bar should help with the balance and give you some good control with the fake foot. It sounds really clever!

I don't know why, but that PowerSkip link isn't working for me now. It's http://powerskip.de
